The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo supports roles of Thai women in the field of Film Industry in the Nordic Region

On 21 January 2020 H.E. Ms. Karntimon Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, hosted dinner in honour of Ms. Pimpaka Towira, Thai film director.
Ms. Towira was invited by the RVK Feminist Film Festival to screen her awarded film titled “The Island Funeral” in the Festival in Rekjavik, Iceland during 16-19 January 2020. The project was supported by the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo, in order to strengthen roles and potentials of women, as well as gender equality in the film industry. The project also aimed to promote the image of Thailand and build up closer people-to-people contact between Thailand and Iceland, which will not only benefit the competency of the Thai film industry but also enhance future cooperation in other probable areas between the two countries.   

The film “The Island Funeral” has promoted new perspectives on religious and cultural diversity as well as its beauty of people living in the Southern Border Provinces of Thailand and received great interest from the audiences at the RVK Feminist Film Festival.
